This is a modern style underhammer rifle, reminiscent of the underhammer rifles popular in New York and New England during the mid to late 19th century. The rifle is stocked with a piece of walnut with high cheek piece, with rubber recoil pad. The 32" barrel is fitted with a Olympic globe front sight and sight blocks to accept the rear tube sight (not magnified). Weighing in at 10.5 pounds the rifle has a trigger reach of 13-1/2" making it well suited for today's average to larger size shooters.
The .45 caliber 1-1/8" straight octagon rifle barrel is cut rifled with eight deep lands and grooves in a caliber appropriate slow twist for a tightly patched round ball. The bore is mirror bright and has been well maintained. The barrel is finished to a dark brown with a bright muzzle to accept the guide starter. The barrel is fitted with two blocks at the rear and one behind the muzzle to mount the sights.
The walnut stock has a small amount of figure. The stock is shaped with a high raised cheek piece. The butt end is fitted with a rubber recoil pad. The action and barrel are finished to a dark blue. The triggerguard is a Hawken style with ample room for the double set triggers. As with many target rifles where it would be loaded and fired with a bench rod, the rifle has no provisions to mount a ramrod to the rifle.
The rifle includes: A box to store the sights and accessories, a drift to start the tight patch and ball, a guide starter to start the patch and ball the first few inches down the bore, sight apertures, a Bomar rear sight with a base engraved 50, a Bomar rear sight with a base engraved 100.
