flintlock, curly maple, brass trim,
used, by Thom Frazier
Part Number: AAV-573
Availability: In Stock
Price: $1,749.00
Stocked in curly maple with a checkered grip, this Colonial flint pistol has a 10" octagon to round .50 caliber smoothbore pistol barrel. This beautiful pistol is signed T. Frazier on the top flat of the barrel and is marked No 200 on the left oblique flat. It is offered in lightly used condition. We are always delighted to show the artistic workmanship of America's contemporary gun makers.

The 10" octagon to round pistol barrel is .50 caliber smoothbore. The bore is bright and is unfired. The top flat of the barrel is signed by the maker. A small silver sight is soldered near the muzzle. No rear sight is installed on this smoothbore pistol. The barrel's exterior is finished to a bright silvery gray. The thumbnail tang is neatly engraved, along with the bolt that anchors it to the trigger plate below.

The curly maple stock is stained to a medium brown and is trimmed in brass that has been given a burnished patina finish. The grip is neatly checkered to provide a secure hold. Viewed from the bottom, the brass buttcap, triggerguard, and ramrod pipes are shown. The screw that secures the buttcap is neatly engraved. The long skirt of the ramrod entry pipe is also lightly engraved. The wooden ramrod is fitted with a flared brass loading tip. The ramrod does not have any threaded tips to accept loading or cleaning accessories. We recommend our #PL-6-50 to service this pistol. The brass sideplate has a burnished patina, to match the other brass furniture found on the pistol. Two domed lock bolts pass through to engage the lock on the opposite side.

Finished to match the barrel, the L&R John Bailes flintlock has a crisp action and a well hardened frizzen. The lock plate and cock have been lightly engraved. When using our best 5/8" knapped English gun flints, #FLINT-ENG-5, the lock will throw a shower of sparks into the pan. A stainless steel vent liner is well centered, positioned at the mid point between the bottom and top edge of the pan.

In lightly used condition, we don't see many nice hand made flint pistols very often. If your budget allows you to consider the purchase of a signed flint pistol of this quality, we recommend that you seriously consider this Colonial pistol. Order it for a ten day visual inspection. You will be delighted. Else if it does not fit you, return it in unfired condition for same-day refund. Postage is your only risk, when you order any one-of-a-kind gun from Track, whether new, used, or antique.
